Bay Reveals Onslaught for Transformers: The Last Knight
The green utility vehicle that was spotted last month several times on the Arizona set of Transformers: The Last Knight now has a name. In a post on his website and Facebook page, Michael Bay has verified the character is Onslaught. The character in Transformers lore is the leader of the Combaticons, a group of five Decepticons that merge to form Bruticus. So far there has been no indication if the Combaticons are part of the movie so don't get your hopes up yet on a Combiner appearance.
Transformers: Combiner Wars Trailer, Cast
Today at SDCC 2016, Hasbro and Machinima finally revealed some details about Transformers: Combiner Wars. The first official trailer shows the cartoon has some pretty sweet visual designs. In addition a press release finally revealed the voice cast for the series (below) that all seem new to the franchise. Based on the description and snippets from the trailer, it seems that Combiner Wars lifts ideas and concepts from IDW's comic book series but is taking them in a different direction which technically voids the comic book canon but whatever. The comics vs movies vs cartoons were always treated as distinct universes anyway by fans.
From the SDCC panel, the goal of Machinima's creators was to get to the core of each character and then try to remain consistent with that core when writing them. The opening episode has Menasor landing on the planet Cambinus with Windblad and Maxima trying to stop him. While technically there are genders in Transformers, Hasbro made the decision to leave "why" a mystery. There are currently no plans for a blu-ray release of the series since it will be available for streaming. The 8 episode series will premiere August 2 on Go90.com in the United States.

IDW Publishing has released their publishing plans for October 2016. Four floppies and one trade are coming that month. The Revolution mini-series to introduce the Hasbro Universe continued with Transformers, GI Joe, ROM, Micronauts, M.A.S.K. and Action Man. As a result there are no ongoing Transformers after Transformers and Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye ended their current runs. New Behind the Scenes Video From Transformers 5 Set
On the official Instagram and Facebook accounts for Transformers: The Last Knight is a new behind the scenes video that appears to be from when the crew was in Arizona a few weeks ago. I guess technically it is in spoiler territory since it shows an action scene with some Bayhem involving helicopters and what looks like vehicles with the Delta symbol on them. Thanks to W. Ray for the link.
Final Prelude to Combiners Wars Windblade Episode
The final motion comic episode of "Prelude to Combiner Wars" featuring Windblade is now available (Episode 1 | Episodes 2, 3). There have been few details on the series. While I assume the art style will look a lot like Prelude, I am not sure if that means it will be a traditional cartoon series, a continuation of the motion comic look nor how long each episode will be. We will find out when the first episode of the 8 episode Combiner Wars series launches on August 2 exclusively on g090 in the United States.
Transformers: The Last Knight New York Billboard Ad
In a bit of a head scratcher, there is a New York billboard near Times Square advertising Transformers: The Last Knight found by Ben's World of Transformers. Its a cool piece of art with Optimus Prime wielding his sword against unknown enemies near a tattered flag with a Decepticon-ish symbol. Not sure why Paramount or Hasbro would pay for something like that considering filming has just started and it is a year out until release but I am game for more creative shots like that. Update Below is a tweet of another view of the billboard. Thanks to Feris O. for the link.
Very interesting billboard for @transformers #TheLastKnight. Marketing this early? A lot of clues included, indeed pic.twitter.com/bPFSodt3Wk

Laura Haddock, Barricade and Odd Costume on TF5 Set
Tuesday seemed to bring some new additions to the Detroit set for Transformers: The Last Knight. Michael Bay posted an image of the lovely Laura Haddock, perhaps in her character costume. The official TF5 Instagram account posted to short vids (below).
The first is a look at the new Barricade vehicle with a shiny pretty shade of blue that I want on my car. The second gif is interesting due to the costumes that Josh Duhamel and Santiago Cabrera are wearing. I have no clue what to make of them other then they just seem really odd. I almost thought of them as motion capture outfits but the huge volume of weapons and lack of tracking markers makes them something else, just no idea what.
